Ok, so this wasn’t what I was going to write about. But when I come across really interesting blogging topics, my inner nerd gets all excited and I start to feel like I need to share it with you.
Numbers can tell us so much about the direction we should and shouldn’t be taking our blogging, right? A post that gets a dozen comments may be a better choice than one that only got two.
So, if you are new to blogging (or just a nerd like me), I’m excited to reveal the top ten list of blog post ideas, inspired by fizzle’s own list:
  1. Self improvement/Self-Hypnosis
  2. Health & Fitness for Busy People
  3. Language Learning Blogs
  4. How to Travel on a Budget (Best hotel deals. Car rental. Trip advice.)
  5. Writing Style
  6. Rescued Animals
  7. Personal Development (Passions & Ambition Pursuing)
  8. Social Dynamics & Communication Skills
  9. Working in Uncommon Fields of Expertise While Location Independence
  10. Self Defense
Why does this data matter? Well, you might have noticed all the insider information the Blogging Tips bloggers bring you. And what’s rule number one?
Before you start a blog, have a strategy for your blog. Do you want it to:
  • Generate income via advertisers
  • Build a list of email subscribers
  • Entertain people for free, etc.
Based on your blogging goal, you then research the topic at hand to determine which keywords are best for your desired blogging field. Next, you’ll use those keywords to flesh out a blogging strategy – what you’ll write about and who you’ll promote those blogs to.
Let’s say that you did everything right. Except for one little thing. You forgot to take a look at who your competitors are. And it turns out that you started a photography blog at the same time as Cannon and Nikkon started a blog. Now what?
The point is very simple. Besides looking at the strategy behind what you want to do, it will probably make sense for you to start a niche blog if you are among the 328,763 blogs that were started last year about photography.
And your niche blogging will need to be very specific so as to get you the high rankings and traffic flow you want for your blog. It’s not enough anymore to just be interesting if you are blogging about a highly competitive topic.
While most blogs are becoming niched to a very specific topic, having this data makes it very clear that you need to be aware of what the more popular topics are so you can do a better job at creating a lucrative blog for yourself or your business.
